Plan Your Dive Trip to Norway

From your first enquiry to your first dive

A successful Norwegian dive trip depends on good preparation. Cold water, tidal conditions, equipment requirements and travel logistics should all be considered before you arrive. This guide explains what we need from you and what you can expect when staying and diving with Bare Dykk.

Choose your dates

Diving is possible year-round, but sites and daily schedule depend on tide, weather, daylight, water conditions, group experience and the type of diving. Some objectives require particular tidal windows — send your preferred dates before booking non-refundable travel when the objective is highly specific.

Tell us about the divers

For each participant: certification level, approximate number of dives, date of most recent dive, maximum trained depth, drysuit experience, cold-water experience, current/drift experience, open-circuit or rebreather configuration, and any practical accessibility requirements affecting accommodation, boat access or equipment handling. Please do not submit medical records or detailed health information through this form. For technical programs we may request certification cards and a summary of recent dives.

Choose the type of trip

Recreational cold-water diving, coral and marine-life diving, photography/video, guided diving, club or group trip, technical diving, rebreather diving, DPV diving, training/skills, or a combination of diving and a course. A realistic program is more valuable than trying to include every option in one short visit.

Decide what equipment to bring

Bringing familiar personal equipment is normally preferable — mask, dive computer, base layers, DSMB and reel, cutting device, lights, chargers and personal rebreather components. Rental can be arranged for complete recreational setups and selected technical configurations. Do not assume a particular cylinder, valve, rebreather component or DPV is available unless confirmed.

Confirm gas requirements

Before arrival, technical and rebreather divers should provide cylinder sizes, working pressure, oxygen-clean status, bottom gas, decompression gases, diluent, bailout requirements and expected number of fills. Nitrox up to 32% is included in some packages; helium, oxygen and specialist gases are normally charged separately unless stated.

Traveling to Bare Dykk

Bare Dykk Dive Center, Framverranvegen 242, 7690 Mosvik, Norway. Trondheim Airport Værnes is the most practical airport for many international visitors — allow approximately 1.5 hours by car. Rental cars are available at the airport and are normally the easiest option for divers carrying equipment. Groups arriving by ferry or driving through Norway should contact us for the most suitable route and arrival time.

Arrival day

Do not plan a demanding dive immediately after a tight or uncertain travel connection. The arrival day should allow time to check in, unpack, assemble equipment, analyze gases, complete rental fitting, charge equipment, review the program, buy food if required and rest before diving. An orientation dive may be possible when arrival time, daylight and conditions allow, but it should not be assumed.

Accommodation and food

Accommodation is located at the dive center. Guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen, refrigeration and food storage, dining and social areas, shared bathrooms and dive-planning space. Meals are not normally included; grocery shopping is available in Mosvik. Catering may be arranged for some groups by prior agreement.

A typical dive day

The exact departure time changes with the tide. A typical day: weather and tidal review, site selection, breakfast and equipment preparation, dive briefing, boat departure, the planned dive, surface interval, a second dive where appropriate, gas filling and equipment care, and planning for the following day. Technical days may be built around one main dive.

Documents, medical fitness and flying after diving

Bring or have digital access to: diving certification, relevant speciality/technical certifications, diving insurance information, emergency contacts, prescription information where relevant, rebreather checklists, required equipment manuals and travel documents. Each diver is responsible for being medically fit to dive and for following the medical and insurance requirements relevant to their certification and home country.

Allow adequate time between your final dive and flying. Follow current guidance from your training organization, dive computer and recognized diving-medical sources, and share your departure plan with us so the final diving day can be planned appropriately.
