Description
CMAS Gas Blender – Gas blending for Nitrox and advanced mixes
For those who want to learn safe production of breathing gases for diving
About the course
The CMAS Gas Blender course gives you the knowledge and skills you need to blend breathing gases safely, accurately and under control. The course covers both basic and advanced techniques for producing Nitrox and other oxygen-enriched gases within sport and technical diving.
This is the course for you if you want to understand the whole process behind gas filling, and for clubs and centres that want competent people to handle gas production safely.
What will you learn?
The course combines theory and practical exercises in the workshop or gas room. Among other things, you will learn:
Theory and principles
- Gas theory and the physics behind breathing gases
- Properties of oxygen, air and other blending gases
- Oxygen safety and handling equipment with a high O₂ percentage
- Risk analysis and prevention of hazardous situations
Practical skills
- Use of analysis equipment and calibration
- Safe filling of Nitrox by continuous blending or partial pressure
- Calculating mixes – desired EANx, top-off, series blending etc.
- Labelling and documentation of cylinders
- Control routines and quality assurance before the cylinders are handed over to the diver
This is included in the course
- Theory teaching
- Practical filling and analysis exercises
- Loan of analysis equipment during the course
- Course materials and documentation forms
- Personal follow-up in small groups
- CMAS Gas Blender certificate on passing the course
Requirements for participation
- Minimum CMAS P1 or equivalent
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Good understanding of basic diving physiology
- Medical certificate if a previous certificate has expired
No prior experience with gas blending is required – we teach you everything from the basics.
