Why aluminium rather than steel for drysuit gas?

• If salt water gets into an aluminium cylinder, it is enough to rinse it thoroughly, dry it well, grease the O-ring and refit the valve.
• A steel cylinder with salt water inside requires acid cleaning — more work, more cost and more downtime.
• In Norwegian conditions, and in Trondelag in particular, where most dives take place in sea water, this is a practical advantage that quickly makes itself felt.
